During my thorough perusing of TikTok, I came across a video by Rhonda McCrimmon. She drew me in and before I knew it, I signed up for emails from her website, joined her Facebook group, and then listened to one of her podcasts. She is amazingly lovely and positive, and since I’ve been on a stunted spiritual journey anyway, why not learn about Shamanism?
Obviously, my next step was to watch her 2 hour video on Introduction to Shamanism, hah!
In this video, she leads a Shamanic Journey with the intent of finding your guides and/or asking your guides what you need to know right now to help you on your journey. For this journey, I ended up struggling in my normal spiritual fashion—wondering if I am connecting with something higher than myself or am I just talking to myself?
As a professional daydreamer, I have become quite skilled in visualizing movies in my head. And, in this journey, I soon found myself envisioning an adventure to find my guides. I intended to start out by “swimming” to find my guides, but when the drum started beating, the movie in my head went like this:
I was running through a dry terrain, being led by an indigenous man. We went through a small opening in a tree, like the ones in the big redwoods, and he disappeared. I kept running and looking for my guides. I started to dance with a man, but he wouldn’t answer when I asked him if he was my guide. I kept running. I came to a beach and saw a bear that I had “envisioned” before when I tried to do a YouTube guided meditation session. But, he said he wasn’t my guide. So I jumped in the ocean and swam to an island. I could see a fire on the island and a beautiful woman in a green dress beyond the fire. When I asked her if she was my guide, she said yes each of the four times I asked. She told me I was ok and she caressed my head. She said I would find my house (as my husband and I have sold our house and have now been outbid twice on two houses we thought we loved). And then we danced. I kept trying to ask her questions, but she only answered me in very short and vague answers. She told me to dance.
So, I will try dancing. I will dance to the beat of the drums. I will feel the vibrations through my body and just see what happens. Maybe that will help me to feel. If and when I attempt another Shamanic journey, I will focus on my other senses. Well, try to. Ancestral work and being in tune with nature has always interested me, so I will continue learning about Shamanism… and continue learning to express myself and accept myself. In these ways, I will free myself.
